March 2010

In March 2010 PUKKA performed FIVE, celebrating their
fifth anniversary.
The show was staged over three nights, the 3rd to 5th March 2010, in
the Paget Rooms in Penarth, a small intimate venue with superb
acoustics and a great atmosphere.
Starting with a brilliant solo from Mari Kingsley, one of the youth
cast, the audience enjoyed a selection of songs and dances from
PUKKA's major shows over the last five years.
Tim Reynolds, Calum Small, and Suzannah Delaney reprised their roles
as Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.
For Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Neil Clevett took
the role of Joseph and Dave Parker became Jacob, while Suzannah
Delaney reprised her role as the Narrator.
The first act closed with West Side Story, with Carmen Brookes again
in the role of Maria, and Tim Reynolds taking over the role of Tony.
Audiences on the second night were treated to an "alternative
ending" when, due to a technical issue, Tony had to be
dispatched by knife rather than gun!
The second act commenced with the brilliant children of PUKKA
Petites, Potential and Plus revisiting Annie. Abi Sims and Harriet
Knowles again shared the role of Annie, and most of the original
adult cast were also available to repeat their roles..
The final show featured was Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, with Glenn
Jones, Calum Small and Dean Matthews repeating their roles as Buddy
Holly and The Crickets, and Alun Brown again playing The Big Bopper.
The show closed with a rousing version of "Johnny Be Good"
from Calum Small, who invited the whole cast back on stage for the finale.
Brilliant! And when things didn't quite go according to
plan on the second night - the cast kept going, and it provided
plenty of material for the Blooper Reel!
