PUKKA Petites was formed in January 2005 and regularly
performs its own shows, including "Annie and Friends". The
Petites are also involved in all the adult productions, and had a
major role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the
Memorial Hall in November 2006.
In March 2007 the Petites staged their own show, 'The Magic of The
Musicals' to enraptured audiences at Porthkerry Road Methodist
Schoolroom, and later performed a selection of hits in the adult
production 'An Evening of West End Entertainment'' at the Barry
Memorial Hall.

In 2008 a more challenging environment was created for the older
children with the formation of the PUKKA Potential Theatre School.
Their debut was in November 2008 when they performed as part of the
"Mistletoe and Wine" show. The need for an even more
advanced class was soon noted, and in 2009 PUKKA Plus was
formed, producing brilliant performances in the summer show, 'Annie'
including the major title role.
All three sections were involved with the 2009 'Christmas Cracker'
production, including some brilliant solo and feature performances,
and some magic ensemble pieces.
Children's Workshops are held at Crossways Methodist Church.
Workshops are organised into three "terms" of 12 weeks each
year. No audition is necessary for PUKKA Petites or PUKKA Potential,
but a strict 'first come first served' policy is adhered to.
PUKKA Plus membership is subject to audition and invitation.
Members of the PUKKA Petites, PUKKA Potential Theatre School and
PUKKA Plus are encouraged and expected to perform in the major adult
productions - sometimes in major roles!

What is PUKKA Potential?
Over the past four years, we have had the privilege of working with
some very talented young people. They've all had great fun at PUKKA
petites, but we feel there is a need to develop and nurture their
talents in a more focused learning environment. Here, the children
work in small groups (a maximum of 10) rotating throughout a Saturday
morning to develop the three main areas of performance:
Dance | Drama | Music
They work with people who are trained professionals in their field.

|

 |
What happens?
-
The children meet every Saturday morning, from 9:30 -12:00pm.
-
They will be placed in a group with nine other children and will
spend the morning rotating around the three different workshop
activities of dance, drama and music.
-
Each class is planned to a theme which will continue throughout the term.
-
Each class is taught by a teacher experienced in that field.
-
Your child will learn essential skills in each class. They will
become more theatrically literate with each term they attend.
To register your child to join PUKKA Potential, you need to
send a cheque payable to Pukka Productions for £75. This is non
refundable. The balance (a further £75) will be settled on the
first day of the theatre school.
Once this money has been paid, you will not be expected to contribute further.
-
Showcases will be free of charge, although you will have the
opportunity to purchase show tickets.
-
The children will perform dressed all in black, although you will
have the opportunity to purchase a PUKKA Potential t-shirt or fleece
for rehearsal and performance purposes.
-
A tuck shop will be available on Saturday mornings, but your child is
welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks.
The only requirement we have is that the children wear casual
sports clothing to rehearsals and appropriate dance shoes. We will
tell you at the beginning of term what they are but jazz shoes are
the basic necessity. These can be purchased from A&A dancewear in
Park Crescent or any reputable dance / sports shop.
At PUKKA Potential, we are fortunate that one of the team members is
currently working within casting. The ethos of PUKKA Potential is not
to directly prepare children for the harsh world of auditions, but if
we feel a suitable opportunity arises, we may approach individual
parents / guardians.
